  Notes	Charles enlisted in the Army on 22nd February 1916, and went to France on 12th July 1916. On 12th October 1916, he suffered shell shock, having been buried during an attack. He returned home, where he stayed for the remainder of the war. One of his postings in the UK was to the Glandulas Prisoner of War Camp near Newtown, Montgomeryshire, Wales. He married Alice George, a local girl, at the Register Office. Newtown in 1918.
