The Kings (Liverpool Regiment) (Postcard)

The Kings (Liverpool Regiment) is among the oldest of the regiments in the British Army dating from 1685. It received its title of "The King's Regiment" from George I, and the badge of the White Horse of Hanover, with the motto "Nee Aspera Terrent" (Nor do difficulties deter) for service in Flanders under Marlborough. The red rose of Lancaster distinguishes all Lancashire regiments, while the badge of the Sphinx was won in Egypt in 1801.

My father, William GILBERT, was in the King's Liverpool Regiment during the First World War.
